AHS’s Shaganappi CHC nursing and management staff, like many in their profession, work above and beyond: 

• to educate their clients; 

• to engage with clients of all ages and socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; 

• to make their budgets stretch as far as possible while delivering their services. 

At the very first visit to the existing facility, the team at Acorn Design was shown many examples of important messaging developed by the staff that while valid did not comply with various Infection, Prevention, and Control Best Practice Guidelines applicable to the site.  

One popular message board was the “SUGAR WISE” board used to demonstrate the sugar content of regularly consumed drinks and snacks. Armed with images of the original board, the latest edition of Canada’s Food Guide, Google, local food stores, and a number of types of software, Acorn Design Inc. developed an Environmental Graphic Design to be wall-mounted in the new reception area of the clinic.
